Abstract
Lampung is one of the province with a lot of tourism potential. One of the potential tourism spots is oceanarium. Oceanarium buildings are rarely found in Indonesia, especially on Sumatra Island, which means oceanarium can be created for recreation and education. Oceanarium’s problem lies in the design and structure so it needs special construction. Design making it easier for visitors to enjoy marine simulation and provide a proper place for marine life. The writer uses methapor architectural’s approach to design the building for the exterior and underwater simulation for the interior. The use of concept of metaphore was chosen so that visitors can easily identify the building as an oceanarium. The site concept divides the zoning of general access and services. The concept of the building structure uses the combination of cable structure and single layer space frame dome. The planned concept for the building has dynamic form, which is the reason why combination of structures needed. The concept of the aquarium exhibition uses the dominant color of blue, for the concept of simulation under the sea. The utility concept especially aquarium, using LSS (Life Supports System). The lighting utility concept uses blue LED lights, in addition to make the aquarium as the focus of attraction, as well part of aquarium maintenance.
