Abstract
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the life order in society, where clean and healthy living behavior must be applied in daily life to prevent the spread of this disease. One of the efforts to familiarize clean and healthy living behavior is optimal education in schools. School Health Units are expected to be able to become a place in improving students' abilities and skills to perform healthy living behaviors. Clean and healthy living behavior is the main key to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19. Aim: This research aims to analyze COVID-19 pandemic effect in School Health Unit in elementary school in Sub-district of Tuah Negeri. Methods: This research is exploratory qualitative research conducted in 5 different elementary schools in Tuah Negeri Sub-district. The informants of this research were the Head of the Public Health Center, PIC of School Health Unit from Public Health Center, Principals, School Health Unit Officers and some elementary school students. Data analysis using the theory of Miles through the stages of reduction, presentation, as well as verification. Testing of the validity of the data was carried out using the triangulation. Result: The Health Unit activity planning has been well planned even though with an inadequate budget, the facilities and infrastructure to support Health Unit activities are still inadequate, the human resources involved in Health Unit activities have mostly received a training. The implementation of guidance and supervision of Health Unit activities has been carried out in turns by the Public Health Center to schools in its working area. The implementation of the Health Unit Program at elementary schools in Tuah Negeri Sub-district during the COVID-19 pandemic was still running, but not optimal in its execution. Health education is more emphasized on counseling on Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Behavior (PHBS) and health protocols. Health services are limited to monitoring nutritional status by measuring height and weight, screening the students health in the form of dental and eye examinations, and immunization activities for students are still carried out by the Public Health Center but do not achieve the expected targets. Discussion: During this COVID-19 pandemic, clean and healthy living behavior should be further improved in order to prevent the transmission of the disease. One of the various way is by optimizing the implementation of the Health Unit program in schools, it is expected that school children can implement clean and healthy living behaviors at school, at home and in the environment wherever they live.
