Abstract

Background : Ovarian tumors account for 30% of all malignancies in the female genital organs and can be benign (benign), borderline, and malignant. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) based on the origin of these tumor cells, they are divided into three groups, namely epithelial tumors, sex cord-stromal tumors, and germ cells where the most common type is epithelial ovarian tumors. This study aims to determine the clinicopathological characteristics of ovarian tumors in the Anatomical Pathology Section of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods :The research was conducted by descriptive observation. The sample used secondary data from ovarian tumor patients who came to the Department of Pathology Anatomy RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the 2018-2020 period who met the inclusion criteria by using a total sampling technique. Results : Of the 325 secondary data, all were included as research samples. The results showed that the proportional morbidity rate of ovarian tumors based on the histopathological type was found to be epithelial tumors at 55%. The highest proportion of patients with ovarian tumors was in the age group 20-34 years, namely 91 people, the most common type of tumor histopathology was epithelial tumors, namely 179 cases, where the most mucinous tumors occurred in the age group 20-34 years as many as 23 people, the most growth pattern was cystic, 140 cases. The most malignant potential of ovarian tumors were malignant tumors as many as 143 cases. Most malignant ovarian tumors occurred in the age group of 20-34 and 45-54 years, each of which was 37 people. The most common cystic growth pattern in benign ovarian tumors was 87 cases. Conclusion : The most common distribution of ovarian tumors is epithelial tumors (55%). Based on age and growth pattern, the most ovarian tumors occur at the age of 20-34 years (28%) with a cystic growth pattern (43,1%). The most malignant potential ovarian tumors are malignant tumors (44%). Keywords : Ovarian Tumors, Characteristics, Clinicopathology
