Abstract
The objectives of this research were to figure out the abundance and diversity of predatory arthropod species in several rice field habitats in District Kota Agung, to observe the population development of rice hoppers, and to measure the predatory pressure against important pest predators. The research was conducted in highland paddy field landscape in DistrictKota Agung, ffom August to November 2002.The research used surveying method by direct observation conducted on sixtypes of paddy field habitat structures i.e. 1) paddy field close to forest, 2) paddyfield close to irrigation canals, 3) paddy field close to coffiee plantations, 4) paddy field close to villages, 5) paddy field close to bushes, 6) paddy field surrounded by other paddy fields. The parameters observed included species and abundance of arthropods, species proportion of most dominant predatory arthropods, diversity of predatory arthropods, and number of individuals in each arthropod species. The results of the research showed that there were 10 species of arthropods both predatory and non-predatory. The most common predatory arthropods were Pardosa pseudoannulata Boes. and Str. (238), and the non-predatory arthropods from family Formicidae (714).
