Abstract

Upang River Estuary region is one of estuaries in the province of South Sumatra. The urban activities in the mainland will give effect to the water quality that affect productivity primer. This research aimed to analyze the physical and chemical parameters, analyse the level of primary productivity and abundance of phytoplankton and analyze the relation parameters for the primary to productivity and abundance of phytoplankton using analysis of PCA. The condition of the chemical parameters according to KEPMEN LH Tahun 2004 was still belong to the normal Primary productivity ranged from 23.44 mg C/m3/2 hours - 117.2 mgC/m3/2 hours can be categorized oligotrofik-mesotrofik except at station 2 and 7 which categorized ultra oligotrofik. For the abundance of phytoplankton in the range 100 – 304 cells/L. Parameters correlated positively to productivity primer was temperature, salinity, nitrates, phosphates, light intensity and abundance of phytoplankton and the correlated negative was pH.
