Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the effect of direct application of B. bassiana on the parasitization level, mortality, sex ratio and life span of the imagoes of T. sinensis and Lipolexis sp., the parasitoids of A. gossypii. The research was conducted in Entomological Laboratory and Greenhouse, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Inderalaya from July to October 2010. The research was an experiment, comparing treatment to control. The treatment was the application of B. bassiana. The data of the lethal time of parasitoid imagoes was used to calculate the life span of the imago using probit analysis. The number of mummy, normal and abnormal offspring and sex ratio were analyzed using chi-square analyses at 5% level of significance. The result showed that the application of B. abssiana did not affect the parasitizing level, mortality, sex ratio, and life span of the imagoes of. T. sinensis and Lipolexis sp. The percentage of mummies produced by T. sinensis treated with B. bassiana was 2.72% while the control was 4.75%. The percentage of mummies produced by Lipolexis sp. treated with B. bassiana was 2.91% while the control was 4.70%. The percentage of parasitoids come out from mummy of T. sinensis applied with B. bassiana was 90.44 % while the control was 100%.. For Lipolexis sp. applied with B. bassiana, the percentage of parasitoid come out ffom mummy was 96.90% while the control was 100%. The pre-adult mortality was not not significantly different between treatment and control. The mortality was 9.56% for T. sinensis applied with B. bassiana and 0% for the control. The pre-adult mortality of Lipolexis sp. applied with B. bassiana was 3.1% and the control was 1 0%. The sex ratio of T. sinensis applied with B. bassiana was 0.92 while the control was 1.13. The sex ratio of Lipolexis sp. applied with B. bassiana was 0.99 while the control was 1. The life span of T. sinensis and Lipolexis sp imagoes applied with B. bassiana were 23.52 hours and 22,32 hours respectively, while the Controls was 28.00 hours. The application of B. bassiana did not significantly affected the parasitization level, number and mortality and life span of T. sinensis and Lipolexis sp.
