Abstract
The objective of this research is to obtain data and information about physical property of land as the preasant in land of evaluating and assessing its Potential for oil palm. This research used a survey method parted by work wise map 1 : 50000 scale during an area use 400 ha. points of obsevation were determined based on the blocks, where every block is 25 ha and, limited by pass drainage, so method there are 16 points of observation.Test samples were analyzed at Soil Science\Departement Laboratory. The data collected in this research were climate ( temperature and rainfall), drainage, effective depth of soil, Chemical properties (i.e N, P, K, CEC, and acidity), and slope. Next, land characteristic in research location is matched with land suitability for oil palm based on the frame work guid from Center for soil Research/Food and Agriculture Organization (CSR/FAO, 1983).The final class of actual land suitabiling in the research location for oil palm is S3f> ( according to marginally limited by hydrogen ion exponent limiting factor) there is SPT 1. Sjfjni ( According to marginally with hydrogen ion exponent limiting factor and availability of element of nutrient) exists for SPT 2 . on the third land S3f2n2 ( inappropriate at the moment limited by nutrient content limiting1factor). SPT 3. S3f2n2.3 ( inappropriate at the moment limited by nutrient content limiting factor) there is at SPT 4. SPT 3. S3f2n3 ( inappropriate at the momentlimited by nutrient content limiting factor) there is at SPT 5.At land with suitabiling areas of S3 and N still enabling to be able to berenewed by the way of giving input or refinement, as according to factor limitinggrowth to iraprove repair property physical and soil;land;ground chemistryappropriate for oil palm.
