Abstract

Penelitian yang beijudul Struktur dan Komposisi Vegetasi Mangrove di Pulau Ruku Provinsi Riau telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober 2010 sampai Januari 2011. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kombinasi antara metode jalur atau transek dengan garis berpetak. Objek penelitian dibagi menjadi 3 stasiun, dimana masing-masing stasiun terdiri dari 3 buah transek yang dibuat tegak lurus dari bibir pantai. Pada tiap-tiap transek dibuat plot ukuran 20 x 20 m untuk tingkat pohon, 10 x 10 m untuk tingkat pancang dan 2 x 2 m untuk tingkat semai-tumbuhan bawah. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan 9 spesies yang tergolong dalam 5 famili. Komposisi vegetasi mangrove di Pulau Ruku yaitu Avicennia alba Blume., Avicennia lanata Ridley., Avicennia marina (Forssk.), Acrosticum aureum L., Bruguiera gymnorrhiza (L.) Lam., Kandelia candel (L.) Druce., Nypa fruticans Wurmb., Rhizophora apiculata Blume. and Sonneratia alba J.Sm. Struktur vegetasi mangrove di Pulau Ruku secara umum didominasi oleh strata sapling dari famili Rhizophoraceae. Avicennia alba Blume., Bruguiera gymnorrhiza (L.) Lam. and Rhizophora apiculata Blume. merupakan spesies yang mendominasi vegetasi mangrove di Pulau Ruku.
