Abstract
A study conceming the manufacture of bioethanol from oil palm empty fruit bunches has been carried out. Pretreatment process to reduce lignin content was done by steam explosion method. Hydrolysis and fermentation steps were performed using two methods namely Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) and Separately hydrolysis and fermentation (SHF). Hydrolysis and fermentation was done by applying cellulose enzyme from Trichoderma reseei and yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae respectively. Results showed that lignin content decreased 43,2%, while the ethanol product ffom simultaneously and separately methods were resulted 0,048% and 0,042% respectively.
