Abstract
Each individual has the ability to interact from himself through various symbols and patterns of thought. One way that can be done to find out the meaning of the individual is through symbolic interaction. Through symbolic interactions, non-disabled employees and employees with Deaf disabilities can directly depict the process of formation within them. The purpose of this study was to find out the meaning of communication given through symbolic interactions of non-disabled employees and employees with Deaf disabilities in an effort to carry out work activities at Samsat UPTB Palembang City I. This research method used descriptive qualitative research methods by conducting observations, interviews. in-depth study, as well as documentation studies to obtain the required data. The informants in this study were one employee with a Deaf disability and three non-disabled employees from the UPTB Samsat Palembang I. The results showed that the meaning of communication from each individual non-disabled employee and an employee with a Deaf disability was in accordance with the symbolic interactionism theory proposed by George Herbert Mead and Herbert Blumer. Symbolic interactionism theory has dimensions that are interconnected with each other, namely, mind, self and society which can give meaning to each individual self.
