Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman bayam merah (Amaranthus sp) pada sistem budidaya aeroponik dan pertanian organik. Prinsip dari aeroponik adalah sebagai berikut. Helaian styrofoam diben lubang-lubang tanam dengan jarak 15 cm. Dengan menggunakan ganjal busa atau rockwool, anak-semai sayuran ditancapkan pada lubang tanaman, menggantung bebas terus-menerus diselimuti kabut larutan yang disemprotkan dari sebuah nozzle yang terletak 30 cm di bawah helaian Styrofoam (Sutiyoso, Y. 2003). Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis varians jamak (uji-t) dengan dua perlakuan yang terdiri dari perlakuan yang menggunakan budidaya sistem aeroponic dengan jumlah sampel 60 tanaman dan budidaya pertanian organik konvensional dengan jumlah sampel 60 tanaman. Data yang dianalisis yaitu tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai), berat berangkasan basah (g), berat kering berangkasan (g) dan luas daun (mm ). Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian adalah bahwa perlakuan budidaya pertanian organik memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman bayam merah.
