Abstract

ASEAN member countries have promoted the Special Economic Zones (SEZ) zones as a basis for efforts to encourage more foreign investment. Indonesia as part of Southeast Asia has also focused on SEZ as a step to accelerate national economic development, including maximizing industrial activities, exports, imports, and other economic activities that have high economic value. In this study, researchers focused on one of the SEIs in Indonesia, namely SEI MANGKEI SEZ and PT KINRA as the manager of SEI MANGKEI SEZ. This study aims to explain the strategy of PT KINRA as the manager of the SEI MANGKEI Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in increasing foreign investment. In this study, researchers used qualitative methods and secondary data sources. The theoretical approach used is the heterodox theory which explains how a domestic company can gain access to international markets through government initiatives in the form of Special Economic Zones. The results of this study indicate that by paying attention to the quality of port infrastructure, making a simple regulatory system, and choosing a location close to big cities, it is able to increase foreign investment in the SEI MANGKEI special economic zone.
