Abstract
The objectives of the research was to detect the respond of Callosobruchus chinensis L. to temulawak (Curcuma xanthorhiza Roxb) extract on mungbean . The research had been conducted in the Laboratory of Entomology, Department of Plant Pest and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya, started from March until August 2004. The research was arranged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and five replications. The data which had been collected were analyzed by analisys of variance continoued by honest significant test. parameters observed were the percentage of infestation, the mortality of adult, the number of egg, the population of adult, and the viability of mungbean. The highest percentage of adult mortality was found in the addition of temulawak extract with 16% concentration as values as 100% in the 5 * day. The average numbers of eggs found were 114.6 eggs at the control and 35.4 eggs at the 16% treatment concentration. The highest adult emergence was 43.8% found at control and the lowest was 14% found at 16% treatment concentration. The highest mungbean viability (99.6%) was found at control on the 14 * day and the lowest (81.6%) was at 16% treatmen concentration on the 1 st day. The value of LC50 was The 2.74%.
