Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the problem based learning model to improve critical thinking of class XI students of SMA N 1 Musi Banyuasin. The approach applied in this research is Quantitative with Quasi Experimental Design method. The results showed an increase in students' critical thinking. the experimental group seen from the post-test average by applying the problem based learning learning model, which is 94.00 with a very good category. And based on the results of the Independent Sample T-test, a significant value was obtained, namely 0.000 < 0.05, this indicates that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus it can be concluded from the implementation of this research that the problem based learning model can improve the critical thinking of class XI students of SMA N 1 Musi Banyuasin.
