Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh posisi susunan serat terhadap sifat mekanis bahan komposit dari serat sabut kelapa dan matrik resin polyester. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Metalurgi Jurusan Tehnik Mesin Universitas Sriwijaya, pada bulan Januari 2008 hingga Februari 2008. Pengujian ini menggunakan metode data tabulasi dengan tiga perlakuan susunan arah serat pada cetakan yaitu sudut 45°, 60° dan 75° pembentukan sampel uji ini menggunakan perbandingan 20 % serat dan 80 % matrik. Dari hasil pengujian ini diketahui bahwa arah susunan serat dengan sudut 45° memiliki nilai pengujian Tarik yang lebih baik dari arah susunan serat yang lainnya yaitu 0,35 kgf/mm2 dengan regangan 0,28 % dan pengujian tumbukan sebesar 14,28 Joule.
