Abstract

A research about The Relation Between Beaks Size with Dorsal Mantle Length and Body Weight Of Squid (Loligo sp) In South Sumatera Water has been done from April to June 2009. This research aimed to know correlation part of lower beak length Loligo sp. with body weigth and dorsal mantle length. The biometrics measurement of squid samples {Loligo sp.) showed that Dorsal Mantle Length (DML) ranged from 48-146 mm with average 95,85 mm and Body Weigth (W) ranged from 10,84—127,79 gram with average 47,24 gram. The result of measurement of lower beak were : Lower Hood Length (LHL) ranged from 1,42—4,12 mm with average 2,82 mm, Lower Crest Length (LCL) ranged from 1,38-5 mm with average 2,97 mm, and Total Lower Length (TLL) ranged from 3,04-8,24 mm with average 5,36 mm. Linier and non linier regression verified with t-test were used in data analysis The result of analysis regression linier and non linier showed that had strong relation between beak length with dorsal mantle length and body weigth. Relation of dorsal mentle length with beak length by these formula : PMD = 34.039 LHL + 0.007 with r =0,827; PMD = 24.005 LCL + 24.528 with r = 0,871; and PMD = 16.095 TLL + 9.527 with r = 0,907. Relation of body weigth with beak W = 3.766 LHL, 1.220. TLL2.135, length by these formula : with r = 0,859; W = 6.448 LCL1 r69 with r = 0,892; and W = with r = 0,920. Statistical analysis (t-test) showed that Lower Hood Length, Lower Crest Length and Total Lower Length can be used to determine body weigth and dorsal mantle length of squid.
