Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of giving wuluh starfruit juice (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) to the percentage of small intestine weight and swabs in native chickens. This research was conducted from May to September 2021 which took place in the Experimental Cage for Poultry, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The cage used wastype litter with 20 plots with a size of p x l x t, 1m x 1m x 1m. This study used 100 kampong chickens aged 1 day and livestock obtained from PT. Ciomas Adisatwa in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments consisted of P0 (Control), P1 (drinking water + wuluh starfruit solution 4%), P2 (drinking water + wuluh starfruit solution 6%), P3 (drinking water + 8% starfruit solution) and P4 (drinking water + wuluh starfruit solution) star fruit wuluh 10%). Parameters observed were the percentage of small intestine weight, duodenum weight, jejunum weight, ileal weight and caecal weight. The results of the study showed that the addition of wuluh starfruit juice (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) in drinking water had no effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of small intestine weight, duodenum weight, jejunum weight, ileal weight and caecal weight. The conclusion of this study was that the addition of starfruit juice had no effect on the percentage of small intestine weight, duodenum weight, jejunum weight, ileal weight and caecal weight.
