Abstract

This study aims to describe the speech acts in the Novel NORA by Putu Wijaya. In NORA’s Novel there are 3 types of speech acts, namely locutionary speech acts, illocutionary speech acts, and perlocutionary speech acts. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data obtained from the Novel NORA. The Novel used was the first printing published by BasaBasi Bantul Yogyakarta in September 2017. Data collection techniques used documentation techniques with reading and note-taking teachniques, while data analysis techniques used text analysis techniques.Based on the results of the research, the data found by the researcher amounted to 210 speech act data. The locutionary speech act has 89 data. Illocutionary speech acts include assertive speech acts telling 5 data, stating 6 data. The directive speech act invites 1 data, asks 16 data, commands 13 data, asks 1 data, commands 3 data, prohibits 1 data. Commissive speech acts offer 2 data, criticize 3 data, swear 5 data. Expressive speech acts thanked 10 data, congratulated 12 data, apologized 10 data, satirized 4 data, praised 1 data. Declaration speech acts exclude 2 data. Perlocutionary speech acts have 26 data. Speech act research in the Novel by Putu Wijaya can be implied in learning Indonesian in learning to analyze novels in high school class XII found in KD 3.9 “analyzing the content and language of the Novel”.
