Abstract
It has done a research on the utilization of oil palm empty fruit bunches (PEFB) converted into ethanol which can be used as a substitute for gasoline fuel. The purpose of this research was to study the influence of the amount of cellulase enzyme from Aspergillus niger in the hydrolysis process lignocellulose containg PEFB and effect of fermentation time on the amount of ethanol produced. Alcohol product was measured using Ethanol-UV method which based upon enzymatic reaction. Parameters were observed namely glucose levels before and after hydrolysis and ethanol content after fermentation. The results showed that the addition of cellulase enzymes among 5, 7, and 9 mL, the highest glucose levels results in the hydrolysis of 9 mL enzyme cellulase with glucose levels of 5.47%, for the high levels of ethanol fermentation time was 5 days 9 mL enzyme was 0.131%.
