Abstract
The isolated of phenolic compound from ethyl acetate extract of stem bark of Garcinia sizygiifolia have been isolated. The extraction was done by maseration and separation and purification by chromatography method. The structure of this compound was determined based on spectral data including IR, UV, NMR 1-D and NMR 2-D. The antioxidant activity of the isolated compound was tested by DPPH method. The isolated compound was a yellow solids (50 mg) with melting point 198-199°C. The analysis spectral UV showed maximum absorption at Ama* 214 nm derived from the methanol solvent, and at Ama* 271 nm showed that there is electronic transition n —» 7t*. IR spectral showed characteristic absorption for -OH (3132.40 cm'1), -C=0- (1651.07 cm'1), -C-H aromatic (3082.25 cm'1), -C=C- aromatic (1618.28 ; 1562.34 ; 1456.28 cm'1) and -C-O- alcohol (1238.30 cm'1). 'H-NMR spectral showed signal at <5h 6,32 ppm (IH; d; J = 5 Hz), S 7.68 ppm (IH; d; J = 5 Hz) and <5h 7.74 ppm (IH; 5). 13CNMR spectral showed 8 signals, 7 signals C sp2 appear at Sc 113.6 ; 138.8 ; 138.9 ; 146.6 ; 155.3 ; 173.5 and 207.0 ppm, and 1 signal C sp3 appear at Sc 30.0 ppm. Based on the spectral data analysis above were suggested that the isolated compound is a phenolic compound with molecule formula C8H803, molecule mass = 152, DBE = 5. Antioxidant activity of this compound showed IC50 > 100 ppm and the isolated compound was not active as antioxidant.
