Abstract

Batubara merupakan batuan organik yang terbentuk dari akumulasi sisa-sisa tumbuhan yang terawetkan dan mengalami peningkatan temperatur serta tekanan yang tinggi sehingga menyebabkan batubara pada suatu daerah memiliki ketebalan dan kualitas yang bervariasi. Salah satu pendekatan yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui kualitas batubara adalah dengan melakukan uji nilai kalori, kadar air total dan indeks ketergerusan. Dalam penelitian ini di amati pengaruh besar sifat fisika batubara bituminus jenis TE-67 yang berupa nilai panas jenis, kadar air total serta nilai indeks ketergerusannya terhadap kualitas batubara di PT Bukit Asam Tanjung Enim. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan nilai panas jenis berkisar antara 2465 cal/g °C - 2485 cal/g °C, dengan kadar air totalnya antara 16 % - 24 % dan indeks ketergerusannya 45 - 65. Ini berarti bahwa batubara bituminus (jenis TE-67) ini memiliki daya hantar panas yang baik dan bernilai ekonomis. Dari hasil analisa berupa grafik korelasi diketahui bahwa ketiga sifat fisika tersebut mempunyai hubungan yang linier, terlihat dari nilai koefisien korelasi (r) yang mendekati l. Semakin besar nilai panas jenis dengan semakin menurunnya kadar air total maka tingkat kemudahan gerus dari batubara akan semakin tinggi.
