Abstract
Research on determination of calcium oxide (CaO) optimum concentration as pH regulator on water treatment system has been done. Water sample with pH 4.3, conductivity 530 pS/cm, TDS 400 ppm was treated with alum coagulant with concentration of 40 ppm and calcium oxide with various concentration of 40 ppm, 80 ppm, 120 ppm, 160 ppm, 200 ppm, 240 ppm to find the optimum concentration of calcium oxide. Changes in water sample were recorded every 5 minutes until 30 minutes to determine the optimum sedimentation time. Water samples processed using silica sand filter and activated carbon, micro filtration and disinfection. The result showed the optimum concentration of calcium oxide at 200 ppm with a value of pH 7.2 and TDS 250 ppm. The optimum sedimentation time is 20 minutes after mixing. The final processing data result show the value of pH, conductivity, TDS for each was 7.2, 91 pS/cm, 20 ppm and consumable for drinking water.
