Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of self-compassion on happiness in adolescent with divorced family. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a role for self-compassion on happiness in adolescent with divorced family. Respondents in this study were 150 adolescents with ages 12 to 21 years, having both parents legally and religiously divorced, the divorce of both parents occurs when adolescents are aged 12 to 21. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The measuring instrument used is the self-compassion scale which refers to components of Neff (2003) and the happiness scale which refers to the aspects of Seligman (2011). Data analysis in this study used simple regression technique. The results of the regression analysis showed that the R square value between self-compassion and happiness was 0.255, the F value was 50,544 and the significance value was 0.000 (p <0.005). This shows that self-compassion has a significant role in happiness, thus the hypothesis proposed in this study can be accepted
