Abstract

The high incidence of cases of positive confirmed Indonesian people and deaths due to COVID-19. The Indonesian government is taking preventive measures to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 with a vaccination policy. In the implementation of vaccination, it was found that there were obstacles in the complicated service flow. This study aims to evaluate the COVID-19 vaccination program at Puskesmas in Palembang City. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with in-depth interviews, observation and document review techniques. The results showed that the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in Palembang City as of January 17, 2022, the first dose was 87.08% and the second dose was 68.52%. This achievement has not succeeded in establishing herd immunity due to uneven vaccination coverage in several groups, especially the elderly. The puskesmas officers who carry out the vaccination program are members of a team, namely vaccinators, verifiers, screening officers, observation officers and others. However, at the time of implementation it was not fully in accordance with the SOP. Then, the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in the city of Palembang has been carried out well, taking the vaccine by the puskesmas using an ambulance. The conclusion is that the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program at health centers in Palembang City has been going well even though there are several obstacles such as the lack of vaccinators, the inaccuracy of planning for the COVID-19 vaccine renbut (needs plan) and the service implementation is not fully in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) from the recommendation of the Ministry of Health. Suggestions in this study are that health centers increase their human resources through recruitment and volunteers and optimize door-to-door vaccination services by collaborating across sectors to increase the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination for elderly groups.
