Abstract

Pepper plant (Capsicum annum Var. Grossum L.) is a plant originating from Mexico, Latin America. Paprica is one of variety of chili that tastes not spicy, besides being used as a food, paprika is also used in the pharmaceutical industry. This research aims to determine the differences in the growth of red, purple, and yellow peppers and the time of transplanting on the growth of peppers (Capsicum annum Var. Grossum L.) in the vegetative phase. This research was conducted from July to October 2021 located in Jakabaring (104°46'44”E;3°01'35” S), Palembang City. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RAKF) which consisted of 2 factors, the first factor are the type of paprika consisting of red peppers, purple bell peppers, and yellow peppers. The second factor are the time of transplanting, consisting of T1 (21 DAS), T2 (26 DAS), T3 (31 DAS) which consisted of 3 levels with 3 replications and each replication contained 2 plants, so that the number of plants observed are 54 plants. The results showed that the type of red pepper and the time of transplanting 21 DAS gave the highest growth yield for each of the variables of plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, canopy diameter, canopy area, and leaf greenness.
