Abstract
Nanofluids are liquid suspensions of nanoparticles with at least one of their principal dimensions smaller than 100nm. Al2O3 nanofluids with volume fractions of 0.1%, 0.3%, 0.5% have been successfully prepared. The manufacture of nanofludes begins with the mixing process between virgin coconut oil base fluid and Al2O3 nanoparticles and then the nanofluids are mixed using a magnetic stirrer. Ultrasonic cleaner as an agglomerator was carried out for 10 minutes at a temperature of 40oC. Then carried out the nanofluid sedimentation method. Furthermore, density testing using a pycnometer and viscosity using a falling ball viscometer. The 0.5% Al2O3 nanofluid sample has the highest viscosity value compared to other samples. Then the X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) test showed a crystal size of 0.1273 nm. And the results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations showed the shape of cubic nanoparticles and spheres, and the number of particle diameters spread between 10 micrometers to 160 micrometers. Then the average results of the nanoparticle content are 50.46% Aluminum and 49.54% Oxygen from the results of the X-RAY (EDX) dispersive electron test
