Abstract

The title of this research is “Poverty In The Cinta Manis Baru Village Household Air Kumbang Sub-Distric Banyuasin Regency”. This research eamines the portrait of household poverty in order to understand descriptions of poverty deeply, its causes, and strategies to improve their standard of living. This research is expected to be usefull for developing sociology, and as a considerations the Republic of Indonesia Government in formulating policies regarding whose concern of poverty. The method used was qualitative descriptive with a relative poverty approach tha developed by Peter Townsend. The result of this research indicate the poverty of household has a livehood as a daily laborers, farm laborers, and peasant. The ability of poor household is only subsistence enocomic needs, with a semi permanent house conditions and densities below liveable standard. The causes is situation of individual poverty so that poor household mixed strategy of coping and resiprocity, both are based on social relationship.
