Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of class IV B students of SDN 11 Air Kumbang in determining the intrinsic elements of fairy tales in the theme of various occupations, the subtheme of my parents' work. This study uses a descriptive research method, with a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques are question sheets and interviews. The results of this study can be concluded that the ability of students who are in the very good category with an average value of 81.94, namely as many as 14 students from 18 students, 3 people are in the good category, and 1 person is in the sufficient category. Overall, the ability of class IV B students at SDN 11 Air Kumbang in determining the intrinsic elements of the short story on the theme of various occupations, the sub-theme of my parents' work, was in the very good category. Intrinsic elements that can be determined by students correctly are the elements of characterization and setting, 18 students can determine the elements of characterization correctly, as well as by determining the elements of the story setting, there are 18 students who can correctly determine the intrinsic elements of the setting. While students who are able to determine the elements of the theme there are 9 out of 18 students and there are 11 students out of 18 students who can determine the elements of the plot correctly.
