Abstract

Indonesia dikenal sebagai salah satu negara yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati tertinggi di dunia, termasuk tingkat endemisme yang tinggi.Tingkat endemisme yang tinggi Indonesia dikenal sebagai salah satu negara yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati tertinggi yang dilengkapi dengan keunikan tersendiri, membuat Indonesia memiliki peran yang penting dalam perdagangan satwa di dunia. Hal itu ditandai dengan diterbitkannya Undang-Undang RI No.5 Tahun 1990 tentang Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Hayati dan Ekosistemnya, didalam UU tersebut disebutkan dalam pasal 40 ayat (2) jika melanggar pasal 21 ayat (1) dan (2) serta pasal 33 ayat (3) seperti dikutip dibawah dapat dipidana penjara paling lama 5 (lima) dan denda paling banyak Rp.100.000.000.00 (seratus juta rupiah).
