Abstract
The research aims to mastery level of science process skills in private high school students in sub district Kalidoni Palembang. This research is a quantitative descriptive with survey research method. The sampling using random sampling techniques that get of 177 students at X science from four schools. Data collection uses test, questionnaires, and documents. The instrument test consists of 18 multiple choice questions that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques are done in a statistically descriptive. The results showed that overall the science process skills mastery level of students in the district Kalidoni Palembang was high at 4,52%, medium at 64,97%, and low at 30,51%. Viewed from the nine aspects of science process skills students correctly answer the observing aspect by 46,38%, classifying 50,25%, communicating 33,85%, concluding 37,54%, predicting 26,13%, variable identifying 27,66%, hypothesis formulating 36%, data interpreting 33,74%, and experiment planning 33,41%. Significance test result showed that the completion of science process skills questions in each school is significantly different. Based on the students perception about science process skills with a very good category in the aspect of classifying. The good category is observing, communicating and concluding. The moderate category is hypothesis formulating and data interpreting. The less category is predicting, variable identifying and experiment planning. The conclusion of this study is that private high school students in Kalidoni District have medium and low science process skills.
