Abstract

Detection and correction of writing errors have become a basic requirement in processing a document. A document is good if it has high formality, good vocabulary and no grammatical or writing errors. Stemming and spelling correction are two main processes in the detection and correction of writing errors. Stemming process is done in detecting writing errors while spelling correction is done in correcting writing errors. This research use Enhance Confix Stripping as stemming algorithm, and Jaro winkler as spelling correction algorithm. The result of this research is software is able to detect writing errors with average accuracy of 97,1 %, and correct writing errors with average accuracy of 78,14%. The software’s average speed to detect writing errors is 2380 milliseconds or about 2 seconds.
