Abstract

This study aims to determine the cultural values contained in the mangulosi tradition in the Toba Batak marriage customs in North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. Subjects or informants in this study revealed 6 people. Data collection techniques used are documentation, interviews, and observation techniques. The validity test of the data used consisted of testability, transferability, dependent, and confirmability tests. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of the research results, it can be concluded that in the Batak Toba wedding ceremony in North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, there are cultural values contained in the mangulosi tradition, namely divine values which can be seen through the installation of umpasa and boras si pir ni tondi by hula -hula to the bride. Furthermore, there are human values that can be seen through the mangulosi tradition where the ulos used in mangulosi are prepared by hula-hula and only hula-hula are entitled to mangulosi. Furthermore, the value of community sociality is seen through giving back ni ulos to respect and appreciate each other. Then there is the value of brotherhood which can be seen through the participation of representatives of clan civilizations and the bride's siblings. There is also a value of harmony that can be seen through the accompaniment of uning-uningan music and suhi ampang na opat in mangulosi.
