Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari hingga Maret 2007 di Laboratorium Teknologi Hasil Perikanan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya dan Balai Besar Kulit Karet dan Plastik Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh konsentrasi krom terhadap kualitas sifat fisik kulit ikan nila tersamak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode rancangan acak kelompok dan tiap perlakuan diulang tiga kali, terdiri dari 3%, 5%, 7% dan 9% krom. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian ini adalah uji suhu kerut, uji kekuatan tarik, uji kemuluran, uji kekuatan sobek dan uji kelemasan kulit nila tersamak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi krom memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap suhu kerut, kekuatan tarik dan kemuluran kulit ikan nila tersamak serta memberikan pengaruh tidak nyata terhadap kekuatan sobek dan kelemasan kulit ikan nila tersamak. Nilai rata-rata suhu kerut kulit ikan nila tersamak adalah antara 88,7°C hingga 95°C, nilai rata-rata kekuatan tarik adalah antara 1.244,26 N/cm2 hingga 2.022,85 N/cm2, nilai rata-rata kemuluran adalah antara 54% hingga 63,33%, nilai rata:rata kekuatan sobek adalah antara 238,92 N/cm hingga 263,96 N/cm dan nilai rata-rata kelemasan adalah antara 5,887 mm hingga 6,367 mm.
