Abstract

Contraception is the effort to prevent pregnancy as a result of the union of sperm cells and egg cells, which can be divided into two, temporary and permanent. There are various methods of contraception, one of them is Permanent contraception. Permanent contraception is a long-term contraceptive method that is permanent, and is used only once. Permanent contraception consists of tubectomy, method of closure the fallopian tubes in women, and vasectomy, method of closure of the vas deferens in men. This study is generally aimed to determine the prevalence of tubectomy. In addition, this study also aimed to determine the extent of public knowledge in childbearing age about contraception. Data was obtained by direct interviews and the sample was obtained by using simple random sampling method. From the research that was done in 95 respondents in the community who visited the polyclinic of obstetrics and gynecology RSMH Palembang, it is known that 100% of respondents had heard the term of permanent contraception. 77.9% of respondents have a good level of knowledge about contraception. Besides, 51.6% of respondents also have a good level of knowledge about tubectomy. There is a relationship between knowledge of contraception with education, occupation, marriage age of respondents, showed that public knowledge effect on the prevalence of tubectomy acceptors. A good level of knowledge of respondents indicated that the prevalence of tubectomy acceptors in the community who visited the Polyclinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology RSMH Palembang also increased. 25% of respondents has become tubectomy acceptors.
