Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan ganyong varietas Verdes dan Morados terhadap beberapa kerapatan naungan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kebun percobaan jurusan Budidaya Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya yang berlangsung dari bulan Februari 2012 sampai dengan bulan Juni 2012. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan petak terbagi dengan petak utama varietas dan anak petak adalah kerapatan naungan. Petak Utama (Main Plot) adalah Varietas, (VI) Varietas Morados, (V2) Varietas Verdes. Anak Petak (Sub Plot) adalah kerapatan naungan (N), (No) tanpa naungan, (Nj) naungan 50 % (N2), naungan 70 % (N3), naungan 90%. Hasil analisis ragam (uji F) menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh kerapatan naungan terhadap pertumbuhan dua varietas Ganyong (Canna eduiis Ker.) memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata pada peubah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun dan klorofil daun. Naungan berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan ganyong. Pengukuran parameter berat umbi dilakukan setiap bulan, berat kering tajuk dan berat kering bagian bawah di lakukan setiap bulan. Berat umbi pada bulan pertama yang tertingi terdapat pada kerapatan naungan 90% (N3). Pada bulan ke dua dan bulan ke tiga berat umbi tertinggi terdapat pada kerapatan naungan 50% (N2), dan pada bulan ke empat berat umbi tertinggi pada perlakuan tanpa naungan (N0).
