Abstract
Background : Bronchial asthma is a State characterized by the occurrence of a recurring bronchial constriction and yet reversible, and somehow there are normal ventilation condition between those constriction periods. Nowadays, adult asthma incidence in Indonesia is about 5-7% and expected to rise ih the fiiture. Bronchial asthma drugs is divided into bronchodilator/reliever anti-inflammation/controller and the treatment is usually performed with a combination of both. This research was conducted to determine pattem of combination in bronchial asthma therapy for outpatient at internal medicine clinic of Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang period 2010-2011. Method : This research is observational descriptive retrospective. The sample is patient listed as bronchial asthma which are recorded in medical record registered in the period of year 2010 until 2011 and satisfied the criterias of inclusion and exclusion. Variables of this reasearch are characteristics of patient, the working diagnosis, combination of therapy, the way of administering drugs, and side effects. The collected data is served in tabular form with description. Results : The result of this research, by the number of samples are 253, is 31,88% of patient are between the age of 35-54 years, 62,84% of patients are female. 26,48% recorded diagnosis are moderate persistent of asthma, 26,07% of total amount of drugs are theophylline, and 20% of the total combination therapy is combination of theophyllin SR with salbutamol and methyl prednisone per oral and budesonide inhalation with the majority way of administering the drugs is per oral (79,52%) Conclusion : Bronchial asthma is happen more to female at productive age to end with the major comorbid is hypertension. Most of outpatients of Internal Medicine clinic are listed to moderate persistent of asthma and prescribed to combination of theophyllin SR with salbutamol and methyl prednisone per oral and budesonide inhalation. Theophylline is the major anti-asthma drugs prescribed, which is contribute as reliever, and dominantly administered per oral by tablets.
