Abstract

Katarak adalah kekeruhan pada lensa yang dapat mengganggu penglihatan hingga kebutaan. Faktor risikonya antara lain usia, jenis kelamin, paparan sinar matahari, riwayat keluarga, infeksi intraokuli, trauma okuli, miopi, glaukoma, hipertensi, diabetes melitus, indeks massa tubuh, dan obat kataraktogenik. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan survei analitik dengan pendekatan potong lintang dengan populasi penduduk usia > 40 tahun di Kecamatan Plaju Kota Palembang tahun 2012. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 75 orang didapat dengan menggunakan metode multistage random sampling dan systematic sampling. Dilakukan wawancara dengan kuesioner, pemeriksaan fisik dan pemeriksaan penunjang. Hasil: Dari 75 sampel yang terdiri dari 29 orang laki-laki dan 46 orang perempuan, didapatkan prevalensi katarak di Kecamatan Plaju sebesar 49,3%. Hasil uji Chi-square didapatkan hubungan yang bermakna antara kejadian katarak dengan faktor risiko riwayat keluarga (p= 0,038; OR= 3,596 Cl 95% [1,027- 12,591]) dan tidak didapatkan hubungan yang bermakna antara faktor risiko usia, jenis kelamin, paparan sinar matahari, infeksi intraokuli, trauma okuli, miopi, glaukoma, hipertensi, diabetes melitus, indeks massa tubuh dan obat kataraktogenik terhadap kejadian katarak. Diduga ada bias sampling selama penelitian. Kesimpulan: Prevalensi katarak di Kecamatan Plaju Kota Palembang lebih tinggi dibandingkan prevalensi katarak di Sumatera Selatan (2,4%; Surkesnas, 2007).
