Abstract

This study discusses the absorption of labor in the small and medium industry sector in Southern Sumatra, and the factors that can influence the absorption of labor in the industrial sector are the number of units industry and the provincial minimum wage. The analytical method used are descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Besides that, multiple regression analysis methods are used on panel data (pooled data). The results showed that the R-square value is 0.971976, meaning that the independent variable can explain the dependent variable by 97.20 percent and the remaining 2.80 is influenced by other variables. Then the number of small and medium industries has a positive but not significant effects on labor absorption in the small and medium industrial sector in Southern Sumatra, while the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) has a positive and significant effect on labor absorption in the small and medium industrial sector in Southern Sumatra.
