Abstract
Introducrion: Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen that is more common in individuals with immunocompromised. Infections caused by these bacteria is often in urinary tract, respiratory tract, bloodstream, and soft tissue. Treatment of Klebsiella pneumoniae infections is very complicated since the emergence of beta-lactamase enzymes that cause resistance to multiple classes of antimicrobe. The purpose of this study was to know sensitivity pattems of Klebsiella pneumoniae to some antimicrobial drugs. Method: This research was a descriptive study using medical records in Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang from January until December 2012. Medical records used in the research were 999 Klebsiella pneumoniae isolats that had been done an antimicrobial susceptibility testing. The isolats were from 41 spesimen types, such as sputum (47%), urine (21%), pus (10,6%), blood (6,4%), and throat swabs (3,6%). Result: Klebsiella pneumoniae isolats were mostly sensitive to imipenem (96,3%), amikasin (90,2%), sulbactam (82,1%), and fosfomycin (81%). Otherwise, the most resisted antimicrobial drugs were cefpirome (74,7%), ampicillin-sulbactam (68,3%), cefazolin (66,7%), azitrhomycin (66,7%), cefipime (66,3%), and co-trimoxsazole (60,6%). Condusion: Klebsiella pneumoniae isolats were mostly sensitive to imipenem and resistant to cefpirome.
