Abstract
Based on the findings of researchers in the field, students experience changes in learning patterns and learning independence during the pandemic so that it has an impact on these students. The impact that occurred was positive and negative, especially for Muhammadiyah Sungai-Liat Vocational School students who carried out online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is a type of qualitative research. The data collection techniques used are: observation, interview, and documentation methods. In the process of collecting data, the researchers carried out data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The subject in the study was a Guidance and Counseling teacher at Sungai-Liat SMK Muhamadiyah and sources of information to strengthen the results of the study were the principal, vice principal for student affairs, subject teachers, homeroom teachers, students, and BK teachers. The results showed that students' learning independence during the pandemic was very lacking such as the lack of student responsibility in school assignments, the limitations of the internet network were used as a deliberate reason for not participating in the learning process and there were still many students who did not fill out the online attendance list. Based on the results of interviews obtained when face-to-face learning was opened, Guidance and Counseling teachers in carrying out their roles had several efforts to develop students' learning independence such as, taking precautions, collaboration between BK teachers and the school, providing several counseling services to students such as classical guidance services in order to foster motivation and develop independent learning of students. The material presented by the BK teacher is the spirit of achieving goals, in conveying the material the BK teacher gives reflections in the form of directing so that students can think positively and discard the negative. And Provide individual counseling services to one of the students who has self-confidence problems in order to develop their learning independence, such as choosing silence because they are embarrassed when they want to have an opinion or want to ask questions even though the student understands what the subject teacher explains. It's a shame when you have good talent but it's not channeled well. and it is hoped that the BK teacher's efforts in developing student learning independence can increase their independence starting from small things, getting used to instilling moral values in everyday life, increasing the spirit of learning so that they can achieve success and have no regrets in the future.
