Abstract

Malaria merupakan penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas di daerah tropis dan subtropis. Southeast Asian Ovalocytosis merupakan suatu kondisi resistensi terhadap parasit malaria yang hanya terjadi pada malaria ringan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi delesi 27 bp gen AE1 pada penderita malaria di Ogan Komering Ulu. Penelitian ini adalah suatu penelitian epidemiologi molekuler berupa studi deskriptif eksploratorif. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik PCR. Hasil: Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan 12 orang penderita malaria ringan dengan delesi 27 bp gen AE1 (6,67%). Terdapat pasien yang mengalami anemia (16,67%), splenomegali (8,3%), dan disertai gejala klinis: panas (1,6%), menggigil (3,3%), disertai riwayat makan obat malaria (2,2%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa masih teijadi invasi pada penderita malaria ringan di daerah OKU dan terjadi peningkatan invasi parasit malaria di Indonesia bagian barat. Individu dengan delesi 27 bp gen AE1 mengalami gejala berupa anemia dan splenomegali. Kata kunci : Malaria, delesi 27 bp gen AE1, Southeast Asian Ovalocytosis\ resistensi, PCR.
