Abstract
The purpose of this research is to design a system for liquid waste processing equipment using a ceramic membrane filtration method. The filter media made from a mixture of clay and fly ash in certain composition and placed within the fiberglass module (housing). The experimental rig is equipped with PVC piping system and a flowmeter, pressure gauge, and the circulation pump. The liquid waste will be tested are derived from secondary effluent of a fertilizer processing industry. Parameters to be analyzed is the feed flow rate, permeate flow rate, TSS, pH, and ammonia according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) of effluent water quality. Results shown that the filter can reduced the ammonia and Total Suspended Solid up to 96 and 90,7% respectively. Keywords: Filtration, Membrane, Clay, Fly-ash
