Abstract
This study aims to determine role of self-stigma towards psychological well-being to the former lepers in South Sumatera. The study hypothesis that there is a role for self-stigma towards psychological well-being to the former lepers in South Sumatera. The population of this study was the former lepers who finished their medical treatment or as known as release from treatment (RFT) with unpredicted number. The research sample was 70 people and for the try out was 40 people. This study used incidental sampling technique. Psychological well-being and self-stigma was measured by the scale which refers to psychological well-being from Ryff (1989) and self-stigma from Corrigan, Watson, and Barr (2006). The research used simple regression analysis. The result obtained by the value of R= 0,553, R square= 0,306, F= 30,003, and P= 0,000 (p<0,05). It’s proved that self-stigma has a significant role of 30,6% towards psychological well-being. Thus the hypothesis is accepted.
