Abstract

This study aims to explain how the idiosyncratic factor of King Salman in Saudi Arabia's foreign policy in the form of military intervention in the Yemen conflict issued by Saudi Arabia under the reign of King Salman since 2015. This study focuses on the idiosyncratic factor contained in King Salman who was involved directly in Saudi Arabia's foreign policy towards the Yemen conflict. This research is analyzed by using Idiosyncratic Theory to see the dimensions and existing indicators. The research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method which aims to explain the policy of Saudi Arabia's military intervention in the Yemen conflict under the reign of King Salman in depth through data analysis steps using theories and concepts as explanatory material. The data used in this study were obtained through literature studies, online documentation, and online data collection. The results showed that Saudi Arabia's foreign policy in the form of military intervention in the Yemen conflict was motivated by King Salman's idiosyncratic factors, namely: Nationalism, Need for Power, Conceptual Complexity, Distrust of Others, as the basis for Saudi Arabia's military intervention in the Yemen conflict.
