Abstract

Until now, the national energy consumption is still showing the dependence on nonrenewable energy sources, although it has been experiencing a shift in energy utilization of energy resources derived from fuel oil to natural gas and coal. National policy in energy utilization outlined in Perpres No. 5 Tahun 2006, aimed at increasing the intensity of the search of new energy sources, in line with increased population and consumption growth rate, which is directed at diversification (diversification) of energy, energy conversion and with due regard to environmental control. Diversification is the diversification of energy supply and utilization of various energy sources in the framework of optimization of energy supply. While the energy conversion is the use of energy efficiently and rationally without reducing the energy use required. Diversify the supply of various energy sources including those generated by new technologies both derived from nonrenewable energy and renewable energy, such as hydrogen, coal bed methane, liquefied coal, gasified coal and nuclear. While renewable energy is geothermal, biofuels, river flow, thermal solar, wind, biomass, biogas, ocean waves, ocean depth and temperature. But on the other hand, technology in processing and energy use will determine the overall efficiency of a thermal system is needed. This relates to the amount of energy would be wasted to the atmosphere that will affect the economic values ??and disrupt the environmental balance. In general it can be said that the use of inappropriate technology will lead to wasteful use of energy which will further contribute to increased global warming. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the earth's surface. This temperature rise due to heat trapped in the earth's atmosphere caused by rising CO2 gases and gases result from human activities such as piles of organic waste, pollution from industrial and combustion processes, where the gases are in general will affect the reflection of solar radiation in the earth's atmosphere. Global warming causes the average temperature of the earth's surface increases so that some polar ice caps will melt and sea levels rise by 80-100 (cm). This will result in some land will be submerged. Temperature difference is high enough on the surface of the earth will cause climate change, where the winds blow loudly, causing hurricanes and tsunamis, landslides, and floods everywhere. In addition there will be some areas experiencing drought which resulted in disrupted farming cycle so that some areas are facing famine. Disruption of the balance of this ecosystem will result in some species will become extinct from the earth's surface, but others will have immunity and increased immunity to the drugs, eg certain types of viruses, microbiology, and insects such as mosquitoes that cause malaria and dengue fever outbreak more to increase. It has been much work done, such as target promised by developed countries to reduce CO2 and the gases causing the greenhouse effect to 5% to 10% in 2012. However, due to increasing energy demand from year to year due to population growth, then this business is difficult to achieve. Therefore, scientists, academics, practitioners, and government very expected to join together to seek ways to reduce global warming and save the environment and ecological balance by applying research and applying technology and management in the processing of energy and waste co- the same. Thus expected to apply technology and management in sewage treatment and new and renewable energy that are environmentally friendly and causes no pollution and does not produce CO2 gases that cause greenhouse effects such as solar energy, wind, water, and others who felt increasingly urgent. So the topic was chosen as the theme at the National Seminar AVoER 2011, namely: Technology and Energy Management to Reduce Waste and Global Warming. AVoER stands for Added Value of Energy Resources, can be interpreted as an attempt to find value-added, or the addition of the value of an energy resource. Therefore, the National Seminar AVoER 2011, will be used as a scientific forum to discuss the value-added or value of a good energy resource of new energy, and renewable energy, which in the year 2011 will specifically discuss the application of technology and energy management for reducing waste and global warming from experts and practitioners, or observers in the field of energy and the environment from all disciplines.
