Abstract
COVID-19 causes a global death rate of 2.2%. The clinical manifestations of COVID-19 vary, but there is a pattern of worsening in patients with comorbidities. However, until now there has been no publication regarding the effect of comorbidities on the death of COVID-19 patients in the COVID-19 ICU Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Therefore, research is needed regarding the effect of comorbidities on the death of COVID-19 patients in the COVID-19 ICU RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This is a retrospective observational analytic study using secondary data from medical records at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during January-December 2021. A total of 132 subjects who met the inclusion criteria were analyzed from medical record data. Deaths of COVID-19 patients in the ICU and subject CCI scores are recorded according to medical record data. The CCI score variable was analyzed using bivariate analysis and multivariate Cox-regression. Validity was assessed using the Enter method. The prevalence of death in COVID-19 patients was 104 subjects (78.8%). The relationship between the variables of sex and the number of comorbidities on mortality in COVID-19 patients were significant (p<0.05), but the relationship between the variables of age and the Charlson Comorbid Index were not significant (p>0.05). IKC has weak predictive ability as a predictor of mortality (AUC 60%, sensitivity 71.4%, and specificity 43.8%). Statistical analysis showed that there were no variables that had a dominant influence on the death of COVID-19 patients. The results of the multivariate analysis in the statistical testing of this study showed that there was no variable that was the most dominant in the mortality of COVID-19 patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. There is no significant relationship between the Charlson Comorbidity Index and the death of COVID-19 patients treated in the COVID-19 ICU at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2021. Keywords: COVID-19, mortality, ICU, Charlson Comorbidity Index.
