Abstract
This study aims to describe the difficulties of students in solving word problems on KPK and FPB material in class IV SD Negeri 02 Simpang along with the factors that cause these difficulties. The type of research used is quantitative research with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques are tests and interviews. The data sources in this study were 26 students in class IV.A and one teacher in class IV.A. The results of this study indicate that students have difficulty understanding problems with a percentage of 54% and included in the medium criteria, difficulty in making plans with a percentage of 41% and included in the medium criteria, difficulties in implementing plans with a percentage of 58% and included in the medium criteria, difficulty in checking again with a percentage of 66% and included in the high criteria. Based on the results of interviews, students' difficulties in solving word problems on KPK and FPB material were caused by several factors, namely the low interest of students in solving math word problems, low motivation of students in solving math story problems, differences in the level of intelligence of students, the existence of a pandemic Covid-19 causes learning to be less effective, does not carry out additional learning, the learning resources used are less varied, and the lack of parental guidance for students when studying at home.
