Abstract

Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is the most common symptom of women in reproductive age. It has bad impacts in women life but poorly studied. This study objective was to determine association between age and AUB cases. Serial case was conducted at Gynecology Division of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang and Charitas Hospital from May to November 2013. There were 178 samples who fulfilled inclusion criteria. All cases were recruited from 2012 period medical record and analyzed by simple linear regression and correlation method using SPSS version 21.0. The most common age group was 40-50 years old (47.2%) and mean age of samples was 38 years old. There were 168 samples who had a marital status, 146 (88.5%) married and 19 (11.5%) unmarried. Only 99 had occupation data, there were 79 (79.8%) with mild degree activity. Based on parity, the most common group was nulliparous, there were 142 samples (32.45%) and based on population density of residence, the most common group lived in moderate population density, there were 53 of 168 samples (31.5%). Simple linear regression and correlation showed coefficient of determination was 0.543 (R2 = 0.543) and correlation coefficient was 0.737 (r = 0.737) with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.001). There was a linear, strong, positive and significant correlation between age and number of AUB cases (R2 = 0.543; r = 0.737, p < 0.001).
