Abstract

The pepper plant (Piper nigrum) are an annual plant and belongs to the type of plantation crops. The productivity of pepper plants experienced in the last 5 years decreased. The decrease in productivity was caused by environmental factors, pests and plant diseases. This study aims to determine the kinds of pests and phytophagous insects and the symptoms of their attacks on pepper plantations that use live stands of gamal, dadap, and kapuk plants. The study was conducted from July to November 2022 in District Payung, Regency of Bangka Selatan, Province Bangka Belitung. The study was conducted using survey and observation methods directly on pepper planting land. The sampling technique is carried out intentionally or purposive sampling. The results showed that the main pests found consisted of pepper fruit sucker D. piperis, pepper flower sucker D. hewetti, and pepper stem borer L. piperis. The attack intensity of D. piperis reached 32.19% and the attack intensity of D. hewetti flower-sucking reached 19.06%. Other pests that attack pepper plants are some insects and snails. The insects are some of Conozoa sp., Oxya sp., Atractomorpha sp., Orgyia sp., B. ferruginea, Trips sp., P. minor, Unaspis sp. The snail found was the batik snail A. perversus.
