Abstract
The prevalence of nutritional status in South Sumatra is 4.9% of malnourished toddlers, 12.3% of undernourished toddlers, and 4.2% of undernourished toddlers (Riskesdas, 2018). Eating behavior is a person's eating habits to take care of their needs. Behaviors of enthusiasts and avoidance of eating in toddlers can have a positive or negative impact on their nutritional status if not properly controlled by parents. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between eating behavior, feeding parenting, exclusive breastfeeding history, infectious diseases history, sex of toddlers, age of toddlers, family income, maternal education, maternal occupation with nutritional status. The research design used for this study was cross-sectional. Purposive sampling was used in the sample process, and there were 80 responses overall. The results of the analysis stated that there was a relationship between toddler eating behavior and nutritional status (p=0.002), there was a relationship between parenting and nutritional status (p=0.001), there was no relationship between family income and nutritional status (p=0.057), there was no relationship between maternal education and nutritional status (p=0.219), there was no relationship between maternal occupation and nutritional status (p=0.705), no relationship between history of exclusive breastfeeding and nutritional status (p=0.486), no relationship between history of infectious diseases and nutritional status (p=0.563), no relationship between sex and nutritional status (p=1.000), and no relationship between toddler age and nutritional status (p=0.813). The conclusion of this study was that there were 47.5% of toddlers with eating avoidance behaviors and 52.5% of toddlers with eating behaviors. Therefore, it is hoped that parents can control the eating behaviors of children who like and avoid eating, as well as provide a more diverse, healthy, and nutritious diet.
